LOBOTOMIX presents DJ Shiftee with Shaheed & Supreme, Headkrack, DJ JEff C, Kidsinthecypher, & DJ Rashido at Speakeasy.
Fri., August 19th, 2011 @ Speakeasy
1920 3rd Ave. N
21+ 9PM $12
Local Birmingham favorite Rashid Qandil has been running LOBOTOMIX for about two years now. He’s obsessed with hip hop in all the right ways, and he knows how to throw a party. I’ve been helping Rashid develop LOBOTOMIX.COM from the ground up, and we still have so much to do. Hip hop just don’t stop, ya’ll.
The Birmingham Weekly recently interviewed Rashid for their cover story “Reversing the Lobotomy: On the Frontlines of the Battle to Reclaim the History of Hip Hop”. He talks about the history of LOBOTOMIX, his love of hip hop, and why you can’t mix 89 BPM into 130 BPM. The LOBOTOMIX crew should reap a healthy amount of buzz from such an in-depth piece.

Dilla Day 2011 @ Plum Bar – Birmingham, Al from LOBOTOMIX
Urbandy and DJ Rashido shot some video of everyone having fun at this year’s Dilla Day celebration, an annual event that honors the life of acclaimed Grammy Award winning producer James “J Dilla” Yancey.
BamaLoveSoul and the LOBOTOMIX crew hosted the celebration at PLUM Bar downtown, an event which featured 7 deejays and helped serve as a fundraiser for the J Dilla Foundation, an organization to help develop inner-city music programs and provide scholarships to students attending schools with progressive music curricula.
